legs of steel. belly of jello.

Yesterday, I made a monumental decision.... From now on, for the rest of the summer, I'm biking all the way into work.

I'm taking this route, which is just under 6 kilometers each way. One of the nice things about the route is I go over the High Level bridge, which is a kilometer long itself, but has a great view of the river valley (it also avoids a HELLISHLY LARGE hill (for those of you in Abbotsford... it's steeper and longer than the hill coming up South Fraser Way to Alan's apartment)). Though it gives a great view, it also seems to be extremely windy over the bridge. Both mornings I've been biking against the wind, which has definitely slowed me down.

The funny thing about all this is that it's faster for me to bike all the way into work than it is to bike to the university and take public transit downtown.

It's also, thanks to morning traffic, just as fast as if I'd driven in. Yesterday it took me 30 minutes to get in to the office... today it was 20, which means I'm going an average of about 18km/h.

Not too shabby, eh? ;)
