It's been awhile...

Some somber news from Afghanistan. Conditions in the detainment camps for Taliban soldiers are being compared with those of Auschwitz. An EU envoy toured one of the prisons, Shebarghan, and was horrified with what he saw there, saying he saw, among other things "ghost-like figures just stirring soup" in the prison's kitchen.

The condition of Afghanistan is sad; now that the US military has had its way with the country, the Afghani people are left in the same conditions they were under the Taliban. Starvation abounds, and -- outside of Kabul -- military leaders hold power over the people. Given these, how has the US bombing the crap out of the countryside helped these people?
